Thoughts on 2016

Here we are. Starting another new year. Whether you want to call them resolutions, goals or intentions, I've been having a lot of thoughts looking ahead to 2016. 2015 was a pretty good year overall. It definitely had its ups and downs, but in the end, we are all healthy and happy. And I think that's what matters most.

Looking ahead to this new year, I have some thoughts (of course) on how I would like my year to go and what I'm going to do to make that happen. I want to improve both my mind and my body.

My major focus is just going to be living a more positive life. There seems to be so much negativity surrounding us these days. I'm determined not to let it get me down. Now, this will take a bit of work, too. I'm going to really analyze the people in my life and make the conscious decision about whether or not they all need to remain. That may seem pretty rude, but some people are honestly just downright exhausting! They seem to suck all of my energy!
Just look through your FB news feed. They're easy to spot, constantly complaining about things. The time I spend with and on these people will greatly be minimized in this new year. I realize that some of these people will have to remain for "political" reasons :-) but I can still minimize their impact on my thoughts and life.

Of course, I'm starting the new year off with the 24 Day Challenge. This is exactly what I need to finally shed these last few pounds and get ready to tone up throughout the year. I'd love to be able to run another half marathon, but the training takes up a good bit of time. So, we will have to see what all we have going on before I decide whether or not I can do it.

I want to spend more time with those people that mean the most to me. I have made some new friendships this past year and I would love for them to grow. One of my mom's favorite sayings is, "Make new friends but keep the old. One is silver, the other gold." This perfectly sums up how I feel. I want to make time for both old and new friends!

Finally, I want to spend more time on my blog. I have been pretty inconsistent with my posts this past year and I would like to change that. I love interacting with all of you. So, please give me suggestions. What would you like to see this coming year? More recipes? Workouts? Day in the life? General life lately updates? Tell me what interests you!!

I hope you all have a happy and healthy new year. And I hope that you will all stick around!

So long for today...

April 2015 Goals

Holy moly! It's already the middle of April!! How is this possible?! So, it's confession time. I failed miserably at my March goals. I'm not really sure I accomplished any of them!! Let's recap them anyway:

Home:
- Make & hang framed quotes in dining room - Nope.
- Create collage for dining room - No again.

Blog:
- Share 2 new recipes - Didn't get this done either.
- Write and share post about doTerra - Want to guess? No :-(

Myself:
- I'm planning to do a 10 day cleanse soon. YES!!
- Run at least 1 day a week. - Ha, ha, ha! Not even close!

Ok, so I got one thing done. Since April has already proven to be busy, I think I'm going to pare the goals down again and try to do three. No categories, just whatever I come up with. Here we go:

• Make and hang framed quotes in dining room. - I'm persistent, aren't I?
• Post at least one recipe on the blog this month. Since I've already taken pictures, I'm hoping I can get this one done.
• Write at least 1 WIAW post. - I've change a couple of things with my eating since I did the cleanse and I'm looking forward to sharing them with you. So, stay tuned!

Alright!! There they are. I have complete faith in myself that I can get ALL of these done this month. I thought about adding another one, but I'm sticking with the KISS philosophy I mentioned the other day. Keep your fingers crossed for me, okay?!

So long for today...

March Goals

Happy Friday everyone!!! We made it (almost) through another week. But we made it this far, so the rest is easy from here, right?

So, it's March 6th and I am just now posting my goals for the month. #slacker

Before I talk about my goals for March, let's look back at my February goals:

Home:
- Do our taxes - Done and done. Although, I did have to amend them :-( But I'm completely done with them now.
- Move decorations to attic - We did this!! So happy about that!
- Make & hang framed quotes in dining room - I didn't get this done :-( But I'm hoping to get it done in March.

Blog:
- Share 2 new recipes - Shared Chicken Cordon Bleu Casserole & Baked Red Velvet Doughnuts
- Write and publish a post about doTerra - I didn't get to this, but maybe for March?
- Research adding ads to the blog - I did a little bit of research and I think I'm going to hold off for now. I'd like to build my audience a little bit more first.

Myself:
- Get my hair cut. - Did it. Hate it. Growing it out. Come on Biotin! Lol!
- Read 1 book - I downloaded one onto my Kindle, but never got around to reading it.
- Start using some kind of paper planner - I haven't started using one, but I DID order one. So, I'm going to check this one off the list.

I think that having 3 goals in each category is pretty ambitious for right now, so I'm going to go with 2 for each in March...

Home:
- Make & hang framed quotes in dining room - maybe I can get this done this month.
I already got the frames and hung them. Now I just have to figure out which quotes I want to use in them.
- Create collage for dining room - I found a collage frame I'd been looking for and would like to make a collage to hang opposite the framed quotes.

Blog:
- Share 2 new recipes (yes, again!)
- Write and share post about doTerra

Myself:
- I'm planning to do a 10 day cleanse soon. I really want to jump start my weight loss and get my momentum back.
- Run at least 1 day a week. - I've gotten pretty slack with my running lately due to the weather and being busy. So I'd really like to get back to it.

Ok, there they are.  I'm hoping that I'll be able to get them done this month. The structured/Type A/control freak in me isn't very happy about not getting everything done last month.

I hope you have a fantastic Friday and a wonderful weekend!

So long for today...
